Unemployment and psychosocial factors in the labor force - 1992

A survey was conducted among unemployed individuals in Bucharest who were registered with the capital's labor offices. The sample comprised 1,005 cases. The main issues examined were: A) perception of one's own status as unemployed; b) job-search and waiting behavior; c) motivation for work and interest in it; d) current minimum income and acceptable minimum income; e) personal reasons for job loss; f) attitudes and views regarding the professional training and retraining of the unemployed; g) the unemployed's attitude toward the labor offices; h) attitudes toward the termination of employment contracts; I) the effects of unemployment on personal expenses; j) the effects of unemployment on the quality of personal and family life. These chapters were presented separately. Through the analysis of contingency tables, it was possible to identify approximately 12 psychosocial typologies of unemployed individuals.
