RODA objectives

A useful archive must preserve data, explain them and provide responsible access.

  • Preserve data and their supporting documentation over the long term.
  • Describe studies and variables consistently through DDI Codebook 2.6 and controlled vocabularies.
  • Provide clear catalogues that can place the same study in different contexts without duplication.
  • Allow public data to be explored before download or an access request.
  • Protect confidentiality and apply conditions assigned to each dataset version.
  • Support interoperability through OAI-PMH, schema.org and metadata ready for persistent identifiers.
  • Enable citation, replication, secondary analysis and comparative research.
